Buckley Again: Iraq a "Failure"

Joe's political godfather and conservative founding father William F. Buckley speaks out again on the utter failure of the Bush-Lieberman Iraq policy in an interview with Bloomberg TV to be aired this weekend:

William F. Buckley Jr., the longtime conservative writer and leader, said George W. Bush's presidency will be judged entirely by the outcome of a war in Iraq that is now a failure.

"Mr. Bush is in the hands of a fortune that will be unremitting on the point of Iraq,'' Buckley said in an interview that will air on Bloomberg Television this weekend. "If he'd invented the Bill of Rights it wouldn't get him out of his jam.''

Buckley said he doesn't have a formula for getting out of Iraq, though he said "it's important that we acknowledge in the inner councils of state that it (the war) has failed, so that we should look for opportunities to cope with that failure."

Until and unless he begins to speak out against it forcefully, Mr. Lieberman is in the hands of this same fortune.

He, just as much as Bush, is tied to the sinking ship of this failed and unnecessary war of choice.
My Favorite Lieberman quote,

“Bottom line, I think Bush has it right.”

This came from a New Yorker Magazine article which it now turns out is an indictment of Joe Liebermans itegrity which some say he has but those who follow him closest know he lost long ago.

Heres another paragraph from that same New Yorker Magazine piece.

Biden could find little to say about Dean, other than this: “No goddam chairman’s ever made a difference in the history of the Democratic Party.” His colleague Joseph Lieberman, who is perhaps the most conservative member of the Democratic caucus, said, “Dean was wrong on the war and what he was talking about was bad for the country. We’ll see what he does as chairman. If he devotes his energies to building a party at the base, as he talked about doing, good for him. If he continues to be a prominent spokesman on defense policy, I would regret it.”

I suggest everyone reread the entire article here (and bookmark it)
in order to understand that Lieberman is just one of the flawed cogs in the Bankrupt Senate Dem foreign policy cabal and his defeat will be the best medicine yet for both the Dem Party and the country.
Keith, that is a great article, and everyone should read it.

Same piece where Joe is quoted as saying "some of my best friends are neo-cons."

Well even some of these best friends are jumping ship now.
