When Joe's 64

In honor of the Senator's 64th birthday today:

When I get older,
losing my hair,
many years from now.
Will you still be sending me down to D.C.,
Ranking Member, Subcommittee?

If I've gone out
and kissed the wrong guy,
would you slam the door?
Will you vote for me,
or will you abhor me,
when I'm sixty-four?

There is someone new,
But if you cast your vote
I could stay with you.

I could be handy, lighting a fuse,
for a war or two.
You might scream that Bush has told a bunch of lies,
hurt the troops when you criticize.

Voting for cloture,
backstabbing friends,
who could ask for more?
Will you elect me,
or will you reject me,
when I'm sixty-four?

Every six years we can have elections in Connecticut, if the field is cleared.
(Used to win with ease...)
But losing a primary?
I'd just switch parties.

Send me a postcard,
drop me a line,
stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say.
(You know I'll just throw it away!)

Give me "Joementum."
(Remember that?
Worked well in '04!)
Please don't defeat me,
please don't unseat me,
when I'm sixty-four!

Comments:
Brilliant. You actually managed to get the meter right in nearly every lyric. Best political parody song this year

Glad you appreciated it. I'm a stickler for meter.
